Disco Bitch

The past two days have been kinda crazy. We didnt have class thursday because of the strike...which I slept through, but stole pictures of anyways.

It was called black friday and the transportation was supposed to shut down, but it didnt.

I also ate wine and coco puffs for dinner the other night...just because.

I am trying to design my tatoo. I think I might get it while I am here.

I visited the most beautiful gothic cathedral here in Le Mans. Its wonderful and was built throughout different times. It is the perfect example of europes ability to change and adapt while building on older things.

Today I woke up and went to the train station to inquire about tickets to Nice. A very nice woman helped us. She was very patient with my broken french and told us to buy a pass that gets us around the country for about half price most times. We are going back tommorow to buy them

Then we left there and went to republique where we found a cool bookstore. I bought a dictionary (dumb idea not to bring one) and a map and a little book about cheap cooking. There were so many cool books and stuff there and the cutest little cafe. Very MOD.

We stopped at a walk in crepe place and grabbed a snack ( such a mistake to know where it is ). We also went to the delicious candy store and got some snacks.

And I cut my bangs :) I know I know so exciting

Anyways, tonight I went and hung out in Christines room with the Ukranian students and some others. Afterwards some of us went to the Internationals party on campus. It was a blast...there were tons of new people all with lots of energy and friendly, many whom I hadnt met before. It was a great time. I learned to make a new drink from the Spanish students:

1pt blueberry liquor
2pt red wine
mix with coke

it sounds gross but is delicious.

The spanish guys I met are so funny and they danced on the tables :)

Also, we danced to the hot singer in france discobitch

its crazy how much american music they know. Rihanna, red hot chili peppers, etc etc..

A man needs to travel..

""A man needs to travel. By his means, not by stories, images, books or TV. By his own, with his eyes and feet, to understand what is his. For some day planting his own trees and giving them some value. To know the cold for enjoying the heat. To feel the distance and lack of shelter for being well under his own roof. A man needs to travel to places he doesn't know for breaking this arrogance that causes us to see the world as we imagine it, and not simply as it is or may be. That makes us teachers and doctors of what we have never seen, when we should just be learners, and simply go see it."
---- Amyr Klink (Brazilian sailor and writer)

I found this quotation on couchsurfing.com. It is a very cool site full of amazing people all reaching out to eachother. It reminded me of a movie I saw recently that talks about how amazing and absurd it is that we as humans do reach out to eachother. Not always for survival or love or lust, sometimes we just reach out to someone. :)

Today was a slow day with frustration in classes and wine for dinner.
Tommorow we have a strike to attend!

Oh What A Night

This is my view:

After staying awake until almost 7am last night ( I found out my classes for today were cancled for a strike meeting), I woke up a little before one, planning on meeting my friend Amanda to go to the train station. Instead she knocked on my door because I fell back asleep.

We tried to plan our trip to Nice, and were invited to go to Rennes for the evening. We waited for a few hours drinking and watching a bike trick dude outside Amandas window with the soulful music of a Betty Boop cartoon.he is actually really good!
Finally it came time that we were hungry, and tired of waiting so we decided to go ice skating.
We all seperated to go to make dinner. While making dinner I met William from Cambodia who is here in his second year studying law.

I went to Nicoles room to find out that we were going to Rennes! So I grabbed my camera and off we went only to be judged fiercly by the frenchies for driving a whole hour on a tuesday when everything is closed!

We jumped into Camerons Belgian brother (PH) smart car and headed toward Rennes. We jammed to music and sang some tunes to PH from our own repitoire::: Ive got friends in low places...:::

Upon arriving we explored the city center and all of its historical sites...comparing them to LE MANS ...all closed with it being 10pm. We took some pics and ate some burgers at a crazy belgian fast food place, and we got free ice cream (thanks PH).

with choc ice cream in our tummies we decided it was time for some beers, so we headed back toward a tiny bar we had seen called the cat who fishes. We were greeted rather warmly to a little cottage type place full of cat decor and comfy chairs. We picked a spot in the corner, and ordered some beers...then things got crazy

List of the day...CRAZY things we discovered this night
  • 1. We were at a gay bar
  • 2. The music is awesome
  • 3. Spraying eachother with champagne is fun?
  • 4. Sometimes when the drunk dudes ask you to join just say yet.
  • 5. Amanda is MAGNIFIQUE
  • 6. Sometimes you want a cigarette and sometimes you want a cigar ( when nicole asked if they sold cigarettes the waiter asked if we wanted cigarettes?...then he pulled up his apron...or cigar?)
  • 7. There so DOES NOT have to be a dance floor to dance
  • 8. If you hate beer, try belgian
  • 9. Sparklers are a fine thing to have inside
  • 10. Gloves are "hand shoes" and cross walks are "zebra pads"
  • 11. French people know the real meaning of Let Loose, and no boundries.

There is most definately something to do on a tuesday night...you just have to find it.
